How-to write compelling Facebook ad copy in half the time with Chat GPT.

In the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, where words hold the power to captivate and convert, mastering copywriting is non-negotiable. This article and my thoughts on Chat GPT are late to the party, because when it first came out, I didn’t believe the hype nor did I want to find out. I love writing copy and coming up with clever word plays BUT, as a recent Chat GPT convert, I can honestly say that learning the ropes of this impressive platform was one of my best decisions of 2023.

I know the ‘robots’ won’t be taking over any time soon, but my word have they been a welcome addition to my ad creation process so far 😂

Understanding ChatGPT

ChatGPT is not just a language model; it’s your creative ally, a digital wizard capable of understanding context, tone, and intent. Powered by OpenAI, ChatGPT harnesses the vast expanse of human language, enabling it to assist you in generating copy that resonates with your audience.

There is a free version that you can use, which you can sign up to here, or you can pay, and get a more involved version which can actually create images for you, along with some other whizzy stuff! 🤯

But in order to make the most of this language model, here are a few pointers:

  • Be specific. ChatGPT is able to decipher pretty nuanced language, which means you can get very specific about what you’re looking for in your prompt.
  • Make sure to provide ChatGPT with all the information needed to get the most relevant and useful response. For example, provide a specific tone you’re hoping to achieve, specifications about your product and brand, costs and who your ideal audience is. The more information you provide ChatGPT, the better result you’re likely to get.
  • ChatGPT is different from some other AI models in that it can answer follow-up questions and continue a conversation. If you don’t get what you’re looking for in your first response, follow up with more specific prompts to drill down and get a better answer.
  • Remember to add to the Chat GPT output – don’t just copy and paste it your post / ad copy / email etc. Amend it to suit your brands tone of voice and feel. And don’t be afraid to experiment. ChatGPT encourages trial and error, allowing you to refine your copy until it aligns perfectly with your vision.

What I love about Chat GPT is that it efficient, quick, creative and most importantly, it can really help you overcome writers block! Here are some of the benefits of using this AI language model with Facebook ads, along with some helpful prompts to cut your ad creation time in half (you can find many more prompts here!)

1.Use Chat GPT to create targeted copy for your audiences:

Facebook ads demand precision. With ChatGPT, you can create copy that speaks directly to your target audience, addressing their pain points and desires. You can get super specific here with your Chat GPT prompts, here’s an example:

Provide examples of effective ad copy to promote [product] for [your ideal audience]? Make sure they are [persuasive/playful/emotional/convincing] and mention these benefits: [Benefit 1], [Benefit 2], [Benefit 3]. Finish with a call to action [CTA].’

2.Chat GPT can adapt its responses according to your tone and style:

Whether your brand exudes playfulness or professionalism, Chat GPT adapts. Tailor your Facebook ads to match your brand effortlessly by telling Chat GPT the style of response you want – as shown in the example above.

3.Tell Chat GPT to use copywriting formulas that are proven to work:

I love to use copywriting formulas when crafting ad copy, and Chat GPT can help you do exactly that. Remember though, the more information you provide, the better the response is going to be.

The two copywriting formulas I love to work with are:

  • PAS (Problem, Agitate, Solution)
  • AIDA (Attention, interest, desire and Action).
